An exuberant San Jose suburb with an abundance of charm
Campbell, California, is an idyllic, residential suburban area set in the western valley of Santa Clara County. Its residents enjoy the warm, mild climate of the region, as well as a bustling city atmosphere and the beautiful natural scenery of California. Always lovely, Orchard City is a vibrant place to call home.
Originally occupied by the Ohlone tribe, Campbell was settled later by Benjamin Campbell in 1846. The land he cultivated for hay and grain became what is now the city’s historical downtown, and eventually, the agricultural focus switched to fruit. The town wasn’t incorporated until 1956 and has blossomed into what is now a suburban haven.
The neighborhoods in Campbell each have their own architectural styles, all with a unique regional interpretation. In the historic districts, you can find everything from Queen Anne’s Cottage styles to Tudor Revival and California Bungalow, all of which radiate high-end luxury while maintaining historical charm.
The city has a relatively young population—including young families—which serves as a large contributor to Campbell’s lively atmosphere. The area prioritizes residential needs above big-city developments, and consequently, what it might lack in large-scale shopping or venues, it makes up for with quality homes and a well-kept, updated, and thriving downtown area. Those who live here will have easy access to more urban areas and towns while maintaining a peaceful and suburban home life.
The heartbeat of Campbell is its colorful downtown area, where you’ll find over 100 boutiques, cafes, services, and restaurants. The streets are lined with lighted trees. Perched high above, you can find the historic Campbell water tower gazing over the scenery.
Fashion enthusiasts can head to Bombshell Boutique for contemporary women’s clothing and accessories, while those who have a penchant for cooking will want to visit The Olive Bar to load up on refreshing olive oil combinations. Flowers for every occasion and need can be found at Petite Petal, and the commerce area offers a wide variety of other services as well.

Visit Aqui for an authentic Cal-Mex cuisine experience and try favorites like the west coast salmon. For upscale, classic American fare, be sure to eat at Willard Hicks Grill and sample any of the craft drinks or savory options like the blackberry glazed filet mignon.
Though smaller than the nearby metropolis cities, Campbell still offers a plethora of activities and entertainment venues, as well as festivals to entertain all ages. Nearby to several county and state parks, the town also has several in-city park locations for the family.
